China and Russia launched their latest joint naval exercise, Joint Sea-2025, on Sunday in the Sea of Japan, close to the Russian port city of Vladivostok.
This round of drills comes just two days after former U.S. President Donald Trump revealed the deployment of two nuclear submarines, a move prompted by what he described as “provocative” comments from former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
The timing of the exercise signifies the strengthening military ties between Beijing and Moscow, as both countries continue to face mounting pressure from Western nations.
