As tensions continue to increase between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates, Sudan’s military says it has taken down an Emirati aircraft at Nyala airport in the Darfur region, for a reason best known to them.
According to the army, the plane had departed from the Gulf nation and was transporting Colombian mercenaries along with military hardware meant for the Rapid Support Forces, who currently hold control over the area.
Khartoum has repeatedly accused the UAE of using Nyala airport as a channel to deliver sophisticated weapons to the RSF, a paramilitary force the Sudanese army has been engaged in conflict with since April 2023.
