Beyoncé Wins First Emmy for “Beyoncé Bowl” Halftime Show

Music icon Beyoncé Knowles Carter has officially claimed her first Emmy Award, earning the honor as part of a small team recognized for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Show for the “Beyoncé Bowl”, her Western inspired halftime performance during Netflix’s Christmas Day NFL game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

The show, held in her hometown of Houston, marked the live debut of tracks from her Cowboy Carter album.

This win breaks Beyoncé’s Emmy drought after 10 previous nominations without a victory. It also brings her halfway to the coveted EGOT status, adding to her record-breaking 35 Grammy Awards. Now, only a Tony and an Oscar stand between her and entertainment’s most elite honor.
