South Africa Slams U.S. Human Rights Report as Misleading and Biased

South Africa’s Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has firmly rejected the latest U.S. Human Rights Report on the country, labeling it inaccurate, one sided, and a distortion of South Africa’s constitutional framework.

The 21 page report, published by Washington this week, alleged that South Africa’s human rights record had significantly worsened, highlighting land expropriations from Afrikaners, abuses against racial minorities, and claims of extrajudicial killings in provinces such as KwaZulu-Natal.

DIRCO countered these assertions, insisting that criminal suspects are duly arraigned in court and that the document was based on fiscredited accounts.

Furthermore, the department criticized the U.S. for passing judgment on other nations while refusing to subject itself to oversight by international bodies like the U.N. Human Rights Council.

DIRCO also highlighted America’s own pending human rights issues, including violence and racial inequality.
