Authorities in Cameroon say ten children abducted in the troubled north last week have been rescued in a military operation, though one victim tragically lost their life.
The abduction happened when the youngsters were seized while travelling on a bus from Kousseri to Maroua and taken across the border into Nigeria, but officials had remained silent until now.
On Thursday, Far North province governor Midjiyawa Bakari announced in a video posted online that soldiers from Cameroon, supported by a regional anti-jihadist task force including troops from Nigeria and Chad, successfully freed the children.
