Egypt and Qatar, acting as mediators, are still waiting for Israel’s response to a 60-day ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip that Hamas has already agreed to, Qatari Foreign Minister announced Thursday.
The plan, presented to Israel earlier this month by the two mediators, outlines a 60 day stop in fighting in return for the release of 10 living hostages and the transfer of the remains of 18 deceased captives, Arab mediators confirmed.
It further includes provisions for Israeli troops to withdraw to a buffer zone along Gaza’s borders, the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners, and the resumption of talks aimed at bringing the war to an end.
