A 26 year old school gateman, Josiah Ayomide, is currently in police custody for allegedly defiling a four year old pupil at her school in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
According to Adewale Osifeso, Spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, the young victim complained of vaginal pains to her elder sister on August 29, 2025.
The child later revealed to her mother that the school gateman had unlawfully raped her while she was in school. Following the allegations, the suspect was arrested and subsequently confessed to the crime.
The victim was taken to the Police Medical Clinic in Eleyele, Ibadan, for medical examination and treatment. The medical report confirmed that the hymen was not intact, with tenderness and bruises around the vulva and vagina.
The police command has assured that the suspect will be prosecuted upon completion of the investigation.
