On Friday, celebrity chef Hilda Baci began her Guinness World Record bid to cook the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
The event displayed a specially built pot measuring six meters in width and 1.3 meters in depth, with Baci setting out to prepare 250 bags of rice, about 5,278 kilograms, to feed thousands of people, who participated.
More than 20,000 participants registered to attend, including Gen Zs, millennials, food lovers, and celebrities. Popular influencers such as Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James were on ground to lend their support.
Before the cooking began, Baci and her mother shared a heartfelt prayer, creating emotional cheers from the crowd, many of whom celebrated her mother as a strong pillar behind her journey.
