Moroccan Youth Protests Erupt Over Poor Healthcare and Education

Tensions spread across Morocco on Tuesday night as protesters clashed with police during youth-led demonstrations demanding improvements in education and healthcare, now going into their fourth consecutive day.

The rallies, coordinated by an anonymous online group known as “GenZ 212,” have been largely organized through social media platforms.

In the capital, Rabat, dozens of demonstrators were detained while attempting to chant anti corruption slogans. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights denounced the arrests as unconstitutional, though 37 young people were later released on bail pending further investigation.

In response, the government expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue with the youth and praised what it described as the “measured response” of security forces.

Protesters, however, have sharply criticized the government for pouring funds into stadiums while neglecting vital services, chanting: “The stadiums are here, but where are the hospitals?”
