Police in Gujarat have uncovered the bodies of a forest official’s wife and their two children in Bhavnagar on Sunday, ten days after the trio was first reported missing.
Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Shailesh Khambhla had lodged a missing persons report on November 6 for his wife, Nayana Rabari (40), along with their nine-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, Bhavnagar Superintendent of Police Nitesh Pandey told journalists.
According to the SP, authorities received information about unusual digging near Khambhla’s government quarters in the Forest Colony around the same time the family was reported missing.
Police teams, forensic experts and a sniffer dog searched the location on Sunday morning, where they uncovered three bodies. Family members confirmed they were Nayana Rabari and her two children.Khambhla has been named a suspect as the investigation progresses, Pandey said.
The family, based in Surat, had travelled to Bhavnagar to spend time with Khambhla during a holiday before they disappeared.
All three bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials say the probe is ongoing.
