Australia-Based Humanitarian Doctors Bring Urgent Relief to Displaced Families

In a new act of compassion, the Humanitarian Aid Doctors Organisation in Australia has launched a food basket distribution initiative for families forced to flee from El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, at the Khazan Tinger camp in Tawila. The organisation also recently sent food support to the Zamzam, Abu Shouk and Abuja camps, with major assistance from the Khair Relief Association in Australia.

In its official statement, the organisation explained that the programme targeted 400 displaced families from the most vulnerable categories. These include women, widows, orphans, elderly people, children, individuals with disabilities and households facing harsh humanitarian difficulties.

The group pointed out that the number of newly displaced families in Tawila is estimated at roughly 35,000, and the figure continues to rise. It warned that displaced communities are struggling with extreme shortages of food, water, shelter and healthcare, as the humanitarian situation keeps getting worse and the threat of famine grows stronger.

The organisation has also made a strong humanitarian appeal to local, international and regional aid bodies to help bridge the widening food shortage, deliver basic supplies and provide medical support to affected families.
