Beijing Kicks Off World Humanoid Robot Games with Laughter and Innovation

Beijing has brought up an amazing event with the start of the World Humanoid Robot Games, a global sports competition showcasing robots built in human form. The event, organized by the Chinese capital’s municipal government along with other partners, is part of the country’s push to advance humanoid robot technology.

Robots created by companies and students from 16 nations, including Japan, paraded into the venue during the opening ceremony. Representing the participants, a robot designed by a Beijing based firm announced they would “compete for the future through wisdom, while carrying forward the will of humanity and harnessing the strength of science and technology.”

From soccer to other sports, the contests provided plenty of entertainment. At one soccer match, the crowd burst into laughter when several robots bumped into each other, toppled to the ground, and had to be carried off the field.
