Fairy Tales and Culture Shine at Moscow Fashion Week

The fashion spotlight stayed on Moscow as Fashion Week carried on in the Russian capital, showcasing runway presentations from both local and international labels, including Inniki from Yakutia in Russia’s Far East and Chinese fashion brand Subai.

This year’s edition brings together more than 200 designers from across the globe, with participants hailing from Armenia, Brazil, China, Guatemala, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, and Turkey.

Isabella Dordosova, designer of Inniki, revealed that her latest collection drew its spark from childhood storytelling.

“The collection will be called ‘Five Eyes’, it’s a Yakut amulet believed to be the most powerful. I was also influenced by the fairy tale ‘Buratino’ (the Russian version of Pinocchio). As you can see, there is Alice the fox standing in a fur coat; we also have ornaments, furs, and futuristic-style clothing.”

Meanwhile, Ma Guai of Subai highlighted that Chinese traditions played a central role in her designs. She expressed hope that her collection would “build a bridge between China and Russia, while also serving as a platform for cultural exchange.”
