Resident doctors under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have commenced an indefinite strike following the lapse of their earlier seven day warning strike.
The declaration was contained in a communique jointly signed by the association’s President, Dr. George Ebong, and General Secretary, Dr. Agbor Affiong, after failed negotiations with the FCTA to address lingering issues.
In the statement, the doctors noted that they were left with no choice but to withdraw their services indefinitely after months of unmet promises.
Their demands include better working conditions, payment of outstanding allowances, adequate supply of medical consumables, and urgent recruitment of more health personnel to address shortages in FCT hospitals.
