New findings from Rwanda shows that the bonds formed between female mountain gorillas are more significant and stronger than previously believed.
The study shows that when a female gorilla joins a new community, she actively seeks out and reconnects with another female she already knows.
Researchers based their conclusions on two decades of observations across various gorilla groups in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.
Remarkably, even if the two females had been separated for many years, the newly arrived gorilla would still gravitate toward the one she had bonded with in the past.
