FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been celebrated with the distinguished Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award during an influential ceremony in New York. This particular honor is given to individuals who showcase global leadership and a strong dedication to driving positive change across nations globally.
Infantino was applauded for his mission to make football a truly worldwide sport, with the aim of nurturing young talent and ensuring access to the game in every corner of the globe.
“FIFA is an organization that invests 100% of its revenues in developing the game all over the world,” Infantino said in his acceptance speech. “We give dreams and hope to children, to girls and boys, in 211 countries. That’s what they need. That’s why we are here, and that’s why I’m proud to stand here today.”
Now in its 14th year, the Global Citizen Awards also recognized French President Emmanuel Macron and Argentine President Javier Milei. Past recipients include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
