Kwara, UNICEF Join Forces to Tackle Child Malnutrition Crisis

The Kwara State government, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has confirmed its commitment to improving efforts to fight child malnutrition and enhance the health and wellbeing of children.

This comes as nearly 31 million Nigerians struggle with food insecurity, a concern pointed out by UNICEF’s Chief of Child Nutrition Development, Ms. Nemat Hajeebhoy, during an orientation session with state and local government committees on Food and Nutrition.

Hajeebhoy emphasized the alarming increase of childhood poverty in the country, noting that two out of every three children suffer from malnutrition, a problem that continues despite Nigeria’s expanding economy.
