Moroccan athletes Youssef El Baz and Lamyaa Cherkab emerged victorious at the 2nd edition of the “Darb Race” half-marathon in Dar Bouazza, an event that attracted more than 3,000 runners, including both professional and amateur participants. The race was free for everyone who took part.
In the men’s 21 km category, Hassan Benbella came in second place, followed closely by Mohamed Nait Ali in third.In the women’s division, Kimberly Chriscaden secured second place, while Douss Bennani Sonia came in third.
The 10 km race also drew attention, with star athlete Soufiane El Bakkali in attendance. Adnane Mhamdi took the win in the men’s category, and Rania Bassiri claimed the women’s title. Bassiri expressed excitement about her victory, and Youssef El Baz spoke about how important the race was for his future preparations.
Darb Event president Ahmed Iraqui congratulated the success of the race, praising strong organization, community involvement, and the region’s natural beauty.
The marathon highlighted Dar Bouazza’s stunning surroundings, and prizes were presented in the presence of officials.
The second edition, themed “The Sea, Sun, and Run,” featured large-scale logistics, a certified race track, refreshment points, medical support, and entertainment, making it a standout sporting celebration.
The course was designed to give runners a scenic coastal experience, and there was even a walking track for visitors. Prizes were awarded with officials in attendance, and the event benefitted from major logistical planning, offering medical assistance, refreshments, entertainment, and a well-planned route.
