Morocco’s national football team wrapped up its last training session on Wednesday evening before traveling to Tangier, where they will play friendly matches against Mozambique and Uganda.
Like many other nations, the hosts of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) are taking advantage of the November FIFA international break to perfect their team’s preparation.
Head coach Walid Regragui and his technical crew used the session to boost team chemistry and refine tactical approaches ahead of the two friendlies.
Regragui expressed confidence that Morocco will deliver a memorable tournament, promising top-notch organization and unity.
“We want to show Africa that Morocco stands out in terms of organization and professionalism. The country will be united, and there will be celebrations everywhere,” he said.
The Atlas Lions are set to take on Mozambique this Friday, followed by a clash with Uganda on Tuesday, November 18, with both matches taking place at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
However, several key players will miss Friday’s match due to injuries. Among them is star defender Achraf Hakimi, who picked up a serious injury while playing for Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
Another absentee is defender Nayef Aguerd, who sustained an injury during his club duties with Olympique de Marseille.
The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 will officially kick off on December 21 and conclude with the final on January 18, as Morocco prepares to host the continent’s biggest football event with pride and passion.
