North Korea Executes Citizens Over Foreign Movies and TV Shows

Reports indicate that the North Korean government has begun executing citizens caught watching foreign films and television programs.

According to findings by the United Nations (UN), North Korea has carried out public executions of people for viewing or distributing international media, including movies and popular TV dramas from South Korea.

The latest UN report highlights that these executions are aimed at spreading fear among the population and acting as a strong deterrent.

The human rights document was compiled from interviews with more than 300 witnesses and escapees, who detailed tighter restrictions on freedom after leaving North Korea.
