President Paul Kagame has discussed with his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara, the ongoing development of bilateral relations in various fields. The talks between the two leaders took place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, at the Africa CEO Forum, which brings together business leaders, investors and politicians from Africa and around the world. The forum was attended by over 2,000 people. Rwanda and Côte d’Ivoire have traditionally enjoyed good relations in the areas of trade and investment. In March this year, the Rwandan Ambassador to Ghana, Rosemary Mbabazi, presented Rwanda’s credentials to President Ouattara. At the same time, they also discussed ways in which the two sides could further strengthen their existing relations, through the implementation of the African Common Market Agreement, AfCFTA. At that time, they also discussed ways to capitalize on the development opportunities that exist in both countries, in sectors including tourism, youth employment, technology sharing, modern agriculture, and air transport, given that RwandAir already operates flights to the country.
The Head of State also discussed with President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania the promotion of mutually beneficial relations between the two countries. President Kagame had recently visited the country in 2024, where he attended a conference on youth education and skills for employment organized by the African Union. The Africa CEO Forum is a forum that travels to African countries. Rwanda hosted it in 2019 and will host it again in 2024.
