A website posing as a charitable foundation in the name of late Liverpool star Diogo Jota has gone offline after it was revealed that neither his family nor the club had any involvement.
The so called “Diogo Jota Foundation” had boasted of raising nearly £50,000 for charity.
It appeared just three days after Jota’s death in July, claiming its mission was to back initiatives “empowering youth, uplifting communities, and bringing the joy of football to all.”
On Thursday, both Liverpool FC and Jota’s family publicly distanced themselves from the project.
