Mugwiza Désiré ran again for the leadership of FERWABA

Mugwiza Désiré, who has been the President of the Rwanda Basketball Association (FERWABA) for 12 years, is running again for the position in the elections to be held on December 21, 2024.


 On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Electoral Commission led by Kayiranga Albert, confirmed the candidates who meet the requirements, who are allowed to run for the leadership of FERWABA.

 There is only one Canadian in the position of President, Mugwiza Désiré, who has been the President of FERWABA since 2012.


 It is the fourth time that Mugwiza has run for the leadership of this committee, where he was last elected in 2020, and he was the only candidate. 

Mugwaneza Pascale again ran for the position of First Vice President in charge of Property as the only Canadian while Munyangagju José Edouard ran for the position of Second Vice President in charge of Competition. 

This position had been vacant for four months, since August when Nyirishema Richard was appointed as the Minister of Sports. Muhongede Alice campaigned for the position of Treasurer, while Munana Aimé, Mugwaneza Claudette and Mwiseneza Maxime Marius campaigned for the positions of Legal, Technical and Youth Talent Adviser, respectively.

 Munyangaju who is on the board of Patriots BBC and Mwiseneza Maxime Marius who is already an Assistant Coach at REG BBC, are the new non-regular members of the publicity committee.
