The Southwest Georgia Regional Library, along with other libraries statewide, has received learning launch pads funded by the Governor's Emergency Educational Relief Grants. This initiative aims to address educational declines linked to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Savannah Bulger, a local mother of two who recently began homeschooling her children, has found these library resources invaluable. She appreciates how they enhance her children's learning experience, allowing for exploration and engagement. According to Catherine Vanstone, assistant director of the library, the launch pads can be checked out for free with a library card and do not require internet access, making them accessible to all families.
In addition to the launch pads, parents can also access ABC Mouse for children aged 2 to 8 for free with their library card. The local library system is set to receive a grant to bring 300 more launch pads to Decatur, Miller, and Seminole counties, further expanding educational opportunities for families in the area.
