The organizers of the Tour du Rwanda announced that the lack of security in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo will not hinder this year's competition, which is expected to host around 80 players from around the world.
Between February 23 and March 2, 2025, an international cycling race is scheduled to take place in Rwanda in different regions of Rwanda.
In a statement released by the Tour du Rwanda on the morning of Thursday, February 6, 2025, it said that the insecurity in the East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo will not affect the race.
He said, “Recently there was a time when fighting affected those on the Rwandan side who live near the border. All measures have been taken to prevent this from happening again."
"Life in Rubavu District and elsewhere in Rwanda continues as usual, so the Tour du Rwanda will take place without any changes to its schedule. Players, teams and fans hope that safety will be maintained and that they will enjoy the tournament."
It is a race that will be played in eight areas equal to 817 kilometers, and it is planned that some of them will be held in the West of Rwanda that shares the border with the DRC.
This includes the third area from Musanze to Rubavu, the fourth from Rubavu to Karongi and the fifth from Rusizi to Huye.
