The National President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Samira Jibir, has called on private school owners to incorporate technology into their curriculums to enhance creativity and critical thinking among Nigerian children.
During the 2024 Children’s Day celebration in Abuja, Jibir highlighted the need to promote inclusivity, diversity, and equity in education. She emphasized that all children should have access to quality education and opportunities for personal growth, ensuring their safety and emotional well-being.
Jibir stressed the shared responsibility of parents, educators, communities, and the government in shaping future leaders. She urged parents to actively engage in school activities and maintain open communication with teachers, reinforcing that education flourishes through strong partnerships.
Recognizing the importance of technology in preparing children for the future, Jibir advocated for equipping students with digital literacy and essential 21st-century skills. She also called on the government to support private schools, especially those serving underprivileged children, by offering tax breaks, reducing excessive taxation, and improving teacher training programs.
Jibir underscored that empowering children goes beyond academic success, encompassing a nurturing environment that respects their unique backgrounds and abilities. She concluded by urging everyone to renew their commitment to empowering Nigerian children, helping them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and entrepreneurial skills to become future leaders and innovators.
She encouraged children to hold on to their creativity, curiosity, and imagination, reminding them that they have the power to shape their own future.
