Over the past year, artificial intelligence (AI) has increasingly entered the educational sector, offering tools aimed at personalizing learning experiences and aiding educators. Parents are now recognizing AI's growing influence and are keen on its integration in their children's education.
A recent survey highlighted that 88% of parents believe AI knowledge is crucial for their child's future education and career. However, 81% of parents either don't believe or are unsure if AI is currently part of their children's curriculum. This reveals a gap between parents' expectations and the reality of AI's presence in schools.
The survey, conducted among over 1,000 US parents of Gen Alpha and Gen Z students, underscores the need for better AI education and teacher training. Many parents are optimistic about AI's potential, with 84% advocating for additional teacher training on AI integration, and 69% believing AI will enhance student learning experiences, such as through content creation and answering questions.
Despite AI's potential, only 19% of parents report that AI is already used in their child's curriculum, and many remain uncertain about how it is being implemented. Ensuring that AI is responsibly incorporated into education is seen as vital for preparing the next generation.
