Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is set to make his third debut for Kano Pillars in their Nigeria Premier Football League match against Sunshine Stars on Sunday. Musa and midfielder Shehu Abdullahi rejoined the club on short-term contracts for the 2024/25 season. The duo trained with the team on Thursday in preparation for the match. Musa's return to the club is seen as a key addition to coach Usman Abadallah's squad, which has had a tepid start to the season. The 31-year-old Musa previously played for Pillars between 2009/10 and 2021, and his return is expected to boost the team's performance. Abdullahi, on the other hand, will be featuring for Pillars for the second time, having played for them in 2012.
The defensive midfielder has been without a club since January 2023, while Musa terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor in February. Despite the NPFL 2024/25 summer transfer window closing, the duo was able to join the club as free agents. The head of competitions of the NPFL, Sunday Obaseki, confirmed that Musa can be registered and will not have a problem playing for Pillars.
