The captain of the national team 'Amavubi', Bizimana Djihad,
asked Rwandans to attend the match between Rwanda and Libya on Thursday in
search of a ticket for CAN 2025, assuring that as players they are ready and
will give everything to win.
Rwanda will host Libya in the fifth Group D match of the
2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to be held in Morocco, which will be held
at the Amahoro Stadium on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. the
evening.
It is a game that Tigers need to win in order to increase
their chances of playing in the African Cup of Nations last time in 2004, since
after that there will be one game left for the National Team to host Nigeria on
November 18.
The Wolves captain, Bizimana Djihad, told Rwanda Television
that he and his teammates are well prepared and the goal is to win again on
Thursday.
He said, “It is a game that we are well prepared for, we are
preparing for it like any other because when we are preparing for a game, we
always want to win. I would say that the players were ready, most of them would
play in their teams, I think that most of us usually do, the coach is shared, I
feel that in general the team is ready to get three points on Thursday."
When asked how they would prepare for the next Nigeria game,
the Tigers captain said that the first thing is to watch the Libya game because
that is the key to knowing what they will be striving for.
He said, “It is
step by step, we are ready for Thursday's game which will put us in that spirit
of saying we are going to CAN because in Thursday's game, no one wants it, but
if it doesn't go well it will be over. So now we are focused on Thursday's game,
to get three points, we know that it is Nigeria that will be next, but now it
is Libya."
Rwanda is third
in Group D with five points, behind Nigeria with 10 points and Benin with six
while Libya is last with one point.
This means that
while Tigers beat Libya, Nigeria beat Benin in Côte d'Ivoire, the National Team
will finish in second place on Thursday and then playing in the Africa Cup of
Nations will be possible, but it requires strengthening in the Nigerian game
because the two teams of first he will continue.
Bizimana Djihad
asked Rwandans to participate in large numbers, to be behind the National Team
that wants to repeat the history of returning to the African Cup after 20
years.
He said, “What we
are asking you is to come and support us on Thursday in large numbers because I
would say that this is the last home game we have in this CAN 2025 ticket
search, I feel that it is also our chance to help us go to the African Cup. I
would like them to come in large numbers and support us. We as players are
ready, we will give our best, we will give our best to win on Thursday."
The Assistant
Coach of the National Team, Rwasamanzi Yves, also emphasized that the players
are ready to give themselves up in order to win against Libya, saying that it
depends on the fact that it is a team that has gotten used to playing for a
long time.
He said, “The
players are ready to give themselves 100% to bring happiness to Rwandans. It's
a familiar team because they started with Coach Antoine Hey, then came Mashami
and Carlos, it's a very familiar team."
On Tuesday,
Amawubi coach, Frank Spittler Torsten, trained with all the players he called
up, including 13 who play outside of Rwanda.
Central defender,
Niyigena Clément, was not allowed to play in the Libya game because of two
yellow cards he received in two games against Benin in October.
