Education Key to Success for African Children

Speaker of the National Assembly Thoko Didiza emphasized the importance of education for African children at the Conference of Speakers of African National and Regional Parliaments 

The session's theme, "Educate an African fit for the 21st Century," highlights the need for a resilient education system that provides inclusive, lifelong, quality learning opportunities ¹. Didiza stressed that education is crucial for the development and economic prosperity of Africa, and that investment in education is essential 

Didiza also acknowledged that the African continent still faces pockets of instability, terrorism, and threats to peace, which hinder the provision of quality education She emphasized that silencing guns and ensuring peace and stability are critical for proper education ¹ Furthermore, Didiza encouraged African countries to embrace democratic processes, which she believes are vital for peace, stability, and prosperity 

In addition, Didiza reiterated South Africa's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, emphasizing the importance of international solidarity and support for the rights of the Palestinian people ¹. She quoted Nelson Mandela, saying that South Africa will never be free until the people of Palestine are free
