Fidelity Bank Plc is fostering educational development in Nigeria by providing students with a platform to showcase their creative writing talents. The bank recently organized a creative writing competition aimed at unlocking the potential of secondary school students and preparing them for successful futures.

During the Read2Lead Writing Competition prize presentation held in Lagos, Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, managing director of Fidelity Bank, emphasized the initiative's goal of promoting a culture of reading and writing among youth. Represented by Pamela Shodipo, executive director of the South Directorate, Onyeali-Ikpe reaffirmed the bank's commitment to enhancing educational standards to equip the next generation for leadership.

The competition featured three phases, beginning with over 3,000 students participating in a creative writing task to qualify for the top 150 writers. The finalists then crafted alternate endings to a novel before the top 30 students attended an immersive writing boot camp led by experienced writers.

Iremide Ogunyemi emerged as the winner, receiving N2 million in cash, a publishing deal worth N2 million, and an additional N2 million to support her school’s library. The first and second runners-up, Mfeheke Okoko and Daniella Orji, received N1.5 million and N1 million, respectively. All three winners are students from The Ambassadors’ College in Ota, Ogun State.
