A recent study has revealed that men continue to dominate senior management positions in Finnish higher education, despite the majority of students and staff being women. This issue was highlighted by Akava, a confederation representing professional and managerial staff in Finland. Their findings show that universities in Finland face a significant gender equality challenge.
Social and cultural anthropologist Heidi Härkönen led an analysis of gender distribution across Finland's higher education institutions, which include 13 universities and 24 universities of applied sciences. The data for the study was collected from public sources between June and August of this year.
