The Minister of Education, Nsengimana Joseph, has indicated that in the coming days, students who have graduated from Nderabarezi schools (TTC) may be employed without another job test.
He returned to it when he talked to the Deputies who are members of the Commission for Education, Technology, Youth, Culture and Sports in the Parliament of Rwanda on November 28, 2024.
MP Nyiramana Christine asked why students studying in Nderaberezi schools, TTC, are again required to take a job test when they are going to teach and have passed their courses.
He asked if there is no way to do it, so that the graduates of those schools who appear to have passed, are put to work before another test is used.
Minister Nsengimana pointed out that the question is in the process of being answered so that in the coming days the test can be resolved.
He said, “This is a problem of children who graduate from TTC, and then we ask them to take another test.
We have been discussing this for a few days wondering if the second test is necessary."
He continued, “The measures we are taking will also make it possible to remove it, why? Now we are saying that if we are strict in teaching English, the children should finish at a good level."
"The second is that the state tests and the way we raised the scores and the way they will be done, will ensure that the child who graduates will have the skills to immediately teach."
He pointed out that analysis is still being done before a decision is made on that, but that when it is approved, it will be announced, but that those who have already graduated from those schools will also be considered.
“That will be after we complete the analysis and make a decision. There are others who have graduated, who have failed exams or are unable to go to work, if we take these measures we must have a solution for them."
The report of the Ministry of Education for 2022/2023 shows that there are 12,701 students in TTC schools, including 5,494 boys and 7,207 girls.
Rwanda currently has 16 Nderabarezi schools.
