Muvunyi Paul was elected to lead the Supreme Council and Twagirayezu Thaddée was elected to be the new President of the Rayon Sports Association for the next four years, at the general assembly meeting held in Nzove on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

The meeting was chaired by Ngoga Roger Aimable, who remained in charge after the resignation of Uwayezu Jean Fidèle, and was attended by the members of the club's management who were recently allowed to rejoin it after four years of being sidelined.

The four topics covered were to look at the status of the Rayon Sports (men's and women's) teams, consider the idea of establishing a commercial company of Rayon Sports Ltd, change the constitution and elect a new executive committee. Ngoga Roger and Uwimana Jeannine, who leads the Women's Team, have shown that they are in good standing and both are leading the league in the First Division.

Twagirayezu Thaddée was elected to lead Rayon Sports for the next four years where he will be assisted by Muhirwa Prosper and Ngoga Roger while the Treasurer is Rukundo Patrick.

It is not the first time that Twagirayezu is going to the board of Rayon Sports because he became the Deputy Vice President of Munyakazi Sadate in 2019, while he was also in the transition committee appointed by RGB in 2020.

Referee Paul was elected to lead the Supreme Council of Rayon Sports, supported by Dr. Emile Rwagacondo while Murenzi Abdallah was appointed Secretary. Ruhamyambuga Paul, Ngarambe Charles, Ntampaka Théogène, Munyakazi Sadate, Amb. Valens Munyabagisha and Uwayezu Jean Fidèle were elected as Councilors in the Rayon Sports Executive Committee.

While this Premier League consists of the former leaders of Rayon Sports, Muvunyi Paul told Gacinya Chance Denis who led the team between 2015 and 2017, that he is not the one needed, but the Advisor to the Executive Committee led by Twagirayezu because the team needs a trophy.

One of the members of the meeting said that Muvunyi wanted to put Munyakazi Sadate in that category, but the members discussed it further, saying that he should keep him in the councilors of the Supreme Council.

There have been changes in the management of Rayon Sports

In a press conference, Muvunyi Paul said that there has been a change in the management of Rayon Sports based on the updated laws governing non-governmental organizations in Rwanda, which determine the appointment of the Executive or Supreme Body.

He said, "That level will look after the team, and create the words and goals of the team. We are together with other elected bodies, including the President of Rayon Sports and his team.

The words and goals are the same, to restore happiness among the "Rayons, we will once again reach the same level as we did in the past because we are all united now." During the administration of Uwayezu and Munyakazi Sadate before him, those who managed the Rayon Sports Association were the ones who represented it in the law, but this time it is the Supreme Court as Muvunyi continued to say.

He said, “The agencies will work to create a common thread. We realize that the problems that include debts of more than 450 million Frw, arrears of wages and money for the purchase of players, require more than one person's efforts, we will work together to solve them.

In the meeting, it was said that the members of this Supreme Level will meet twice a year to see the status of Rayon Sports. Twagirayezu Thaddée, who was elected to lead the Rayon Sports Association, said that the project of the company "Rayon Sports Ltd" was approved after presenting it to the members in the meeting.

"If the project is approved, then we are going to start. We are going to do what makes the project visible," he said.

He added that the club plans to appoint an Executive Director who will oversee its day-to-day operations.

Rayon Sports will face Gorilla FC on Day 10 of the Championship, leading with 20 points after eight games.
