In central Uganda, students are turning plastic waste into educational materials to enhance their learning while supporting their school's budget. At St. Maria Goretti Primary School in Masaka, the school bell signals the end of a break, and students return to a classroom adorned with geometric shapes and figures crafted from recycled plastic.

"The pupils made these learning materials themselves, which has not only reduced costs but also fostered a connection to environmental protection," said Francis Ssematimba, the school's head teacher.

By creatively utilizing recycled materials, students are learning valuable skills while contributing to their community's sustainability efforts. This initiative serves as a model for other schools, showcasing how education can intersect with environmental responsibility.
