Aryna Sabalenka, the current world number two and recent US Open champion, has expressed her desire to return to the top of the world rankings. With only three tournaments left in the season, Sabalenka has a strong chance of overtaking current number one, Iga Swiatek,

who has withdrawn from the China Open due to personal matters. Sabalenka, who has previously held the number one spot, emphasized the importance of focusing on her game rather than the rankings. She stated, "I'm not trying to focus on that, I'm trying to focus on my game... I'm just trying to bring my best tennis to court." Sabalenka will be competing in the China Open this week, where she is the top seed, and will face stiff competition from other top players, including Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka, and Zheng Qinwen. The Belarusian player has had a stellar year, winning the Australian Open and US Open, and is determined to finish the season on a high note.
